Smoking on Cunard Cruises

In August this year, Cunard aligned its smoking policies with other cruise lines such as Seabourn and Disney Cruise Line, restricting public smoking to a few designated areas on all 3 of its ships. The move comes after feedback from passengers suggested that most would prefer a healthier, smoke free environment whilst on holiday.

The move comes after feedback from passengers suggested that most would prefer a healthier, smoke free environment whilst on holiday.

If you are planning a cruise this year, whether you are a smoker or non-smoker, it’s probably a good idea to become more familiar how these changes may affect your trip. Below we’ve listed some details that will come in handy.

Where can I smoke?

All designated areas are on open decks on all ships; passengers will be informed where these areas are once on board and may be changed according to weather conditions. If you are aboard the Queen Mary 2, you can also smoke in the upper level of G32. Passengers are also permitted to smoke in the Churchill’s Lounge, however this has been limited to pipe and cigars users only.

Where can’t I?

Smoking will no longer be allowed on any of the ships stateroom balconies or any other public areas.

What about e-cigarettes?

E-cigarettes can be consumed in cabins or cabin balconies, but not in any other non-smoking public areas.

Can I still buy duty free tobacco?

This really depends on where you are travelling.

If you are visiting Countries with in the EU you will not able to by any duty free tobacco for use either on the ship cruise or when on land throughout it.

However, duty free tobacco can still be purchased and consumed immediately, again within the designated areas, for all other destinations.

Dates below show when policies will come into practice for each ship, until then, passengers can still smoke in private balconies.
